A SIMPLE STATEMENT

I'm falling head over heels for out-there basics and accessories at the moment, I'm talking about colour tined shades (hence these amazing rose coloured aviators from Urban Outfitters) and simple tees with a cool slogan. I admit I'm a little fussy when it comes to anything with a word or phrase on though, I'm not about those tacky shirts with 'love life' written on the front, because that's just ruining a perfectly slick piece. I mean band logos or decent statement's like the tee I featured in my last OOTD post -  - a white tee with 'Feminist' slapped on the front.

As my last outfit post also featured a current favourite basic, I suggest you calmly bare with me while I swoon over anything remotely similar. This time though, I'm loving a new wardrobe addition which is my Led Zeppelin bomber, something I've never really ventured into before. I had a phase with the reversible oriental embroidered bomber that Topshop released many seasons ago, remember that? Just like every other gal, I was mad for it. I've moved on though and found a new one to adore. I found this gem hidden in the Forever 21 sale, the perfect place to find unique band merch - non official but still very cool. We all know my fondness for showcasing my favourite musical figures in the form of a t-shirt so I thought trying out a bomber could be the start of a new obsession, because I clearly need more of those.

I'm also shocked to find out that I have an new love for miniature handbags - what the fuck is that about?! This girl is wearing a handbag and a tiny one at that? Utter madness... The bag may look incredibly small, but it fits everything in including my stupidly huge iPhone 7+, so it's the ideal size really and beats a huge carrier that no matter how many times you reach for an item inside, you can never find it.

I've said to myself that this is the year I try out new things so who knows what could be next. Starting out with a handbag the size of a mobile phone is a good place to start though.

FLYING KITES | 6.9.16

It's another round of beautiful jewellery (aren't I lucky?!) and this time it's a focus on the wonderful Stephanie Bates and these edgy geometric kite earrings. I often forget that earlobes can look pretty with the help of an earring or two, but these ones are a great reminder. The matte finish on these beauties is subtle against my brassy hair and go great next to a leather jacket. If something goes perfect with leather, I'm all ears.

You can go the whole hog and pair them with the necklace that matches. I like to mix metals when it comes to my jewellery so I opted for the silver version, as well as this beautiful Marlin Birna pendant that compliments my black kite earrings almost perfectly.

I couldn't resist adding some gold to the mix with this Mei-Li Rose bracelet. I go all out with my metal clashing, mainly because I can't decide what colour to go for, but mostly because it's boring sticking to the rules sometimes. It's fun to clash a little and wear all the pieces you love in one go, for some it might be a serious faux pas but I'm sticking to what I love!

I'm really into the quirky shapes of all of these pieces. It's fun mixing shapes (not just for the dance floor) and finding jewellery that's a little more unique. If you're more into subtlety though, have a browse through Mei-Li Rose and her dainty pieces online, because although she uses a variety of eccentric shapes through her work, she also has some simple bars and bangles that are just lovely.

AUGUST HAUL | 6.9.15

I've just uploaded my monthly haul! It's not the most exciting collection of items I've ever hauled but there you go. I've been a little quiet on the blogging front this week due to me not feeling too well, as you can tell from this video I have a stinking cold and because I'm pathetic I've been moping about in my PJ's on my sofa for the past few days - tragic. I have got a new outfit posting coming tomorrow though so I'll be back to my usual self soon!

Anyway, enjoy the haul and apologize again it's a little basic. Subscribe if you enjoyed and anything you need to know will be in the down-bar below!

DOUBLED UP

2ND APRIL 2015
OUTFITS
LISTENING TOO: ONE NIGHT ONLY - PLASTICINE ♫ Top - Newlook, leather jacket - Primark, duster jacket - Urban Outfitters, jeans - Primark, trainers - Nike, sunglasses - Topman, cross necklace - Topman, rings - Bloody Mary Metal

A casual day out getting some lunch calls for an excuse to wear my new trainers. On Instagram I posted a picture of two big red Nike shoe boxes and one of them contained this pair I recently got from one of the outlet stores for nearly 70% off and was very happy with myself about finding such a gem! I've been eyeing up all black trainers for some time now and these ones fit the bill pretty perfectly. Nike always come up trumps with their trainers, weather you're looking for a seriously snazzy pair that stick out like a sore thumb a-la Kanye West, or if you're into the more minimalist sort then they definitely cater for you too. I always think it's worth checking eBay if you want a more rare pair or if you don't have a Nike store near you, as they can have some really unique ones at a decent price - if the seller isn't too stupid - and it's better then heading to your local Office or Schuh where it's all the same sort of thing.

These ones are perfectly suited for me, they're simple, easy to style and look that little bit retro. When I bought them the shop assistant gave them to me in a different shoe box to it's original so I'm not completely sure on the model of them, but I'm almost certain they're the Nike Pegasus, what number comes after them I do not know. What I do know, though, is that Amazon have a huge variety online so check them out!

As well as wearing a new pair of trainers, I tried out something else new today, a doubled up jacket. I really wanted to wear my duster coat for a bit of a Stockholm street-style vibe but new I would completely freeze so I had an a-ha moment and layered my leather jacket under it. I liked the look of the doubled lapels and mixed texture so this was another moment I was happy with myself for! Don't worry though I soon got knocked down a peg or two when I noticed I had rolled one of my trouser legs up and the other one down which made me look totally lopsided, thankfully this moment wasn't captured but it did leave me a little red-faced afterwards. I'm not all that wonderful!
