WELCOME HOME | 24.7.16

One week ago I moved out of my studio flat and into a four bed house with my three best friends. A decision not to be taken lightly, but a one to definitely consider. Since we moved in we've had the most fun together, getting up in each other's business and just having a good old time. People always say that living with friends isn't as good as you think it'll be but I can't think of anything better than to live with three people I have chosen to call my friends.

I wanted to share some of it with you as it's coming together rather nicely, I'm sure our parents would like to see what it looks like too. So, if you're into home decor or you're one of our rents, then this is for you! I've tried to link a few of the pieces shown but a lot of it is either vintage or not available to buy online anymore. Hope you enjoy this little sneak peak around our new abode!

MY BEDROOM

I left home for the first time last year and since then I've lived in four different places. I'll be brutally honest, life's a bitch. I've got a lot of nice homeware out of it though which has come in handy when decorating our new place. It feels nice to unpack boxes that are familiar to you rather than buying a load of flat-pack furniture with zero sentimental value to them. My room is full of my style icons and coffee table books that I've kept for years, and even though I've seen them so many times before, I couldn't unpack my room without them.

I've got a lot of personal items on display, like a frame filled with photographs and gig tickets that me and Kieran have been to which I adore seeing every time I come into my room. I've also got my vintage Arizona varsity jacket hanging up by my beautiful bay window to remind me of my mother and our family. You don't really realise how sentimental you can be until you start to fill up a room full of your fondest memories. I'm totally in love with my new room and can't wait to make it even better when I cover the walls in giant posters of Robert Plant and Kurt Cobain.

HOMEWARE ITEMS

White lantern - Ikea
Arrow cross stitch - The Cove Boutique
Cactus - Ikea
Cork Board - Wilkinsons
Clear hanging photo frame - M&S
Popcorn basket - Poundland
Pulp Fiction print - Parlor Tattoo Prints
Bunting - Tiger
Pegs & string - Poundland

The rest of the house is filled with tacky knick-knacks that we all have a love for, like endless pictures of our favourite musicians and vintage home wear like my ceramic pineapple that was once used to store drugs in 70's (so the man in the charity shop told me). Like I said, so tacky but I wouldn't change it, a home should be where you can express your true self and we've certainly let all of our personalities come out and made it the homliest of homes for all of us.

I personally have a love for home decor which makes having my own space to get crafty pretty exciting and makes my hefty Pinterest board worth all the effort that went into re-pinning the 500+ images within it. It's not quite that LA loft space that features in my dreams, but it's something.

MY BLOODY MARY METAL COLLECTION | 07.01.16

I'm jewellery obsessed, if you didn't know. If I leave my home forgetting to put my rings on I will feel completely naked, my fingers will feel bare and uncomfortable which sets me up for a pretty bad day. It's like a comfort blanket considering most of the ones I wear were bought for me and mean a little something. They all have a place in my heart and leaving my fingers or neck bare feels like I'm missing something. There's a company that's been high on my list of desirable jewels for a long time now and that's Bloody Mary Metal. I bet most of you know of the company by now considering a lot of well known bloggers don a part of their collection on the daily. But my love goes way back, way back when they had minimal Instagram followers and they hadn't had an article written about the in the paper, nicely done by the way guys! It might be that I adore the fact their situated in Cornwall, close (sort of) to were I used to live and where my mother still does live. Seeing something come from a little town I have distant but fond memories of feels strangely homely.

I'm so happy my collection is coming on strong with the help of my loved ones. For Christmas my father surprised me with one of their beautiful trademark black and gold box which made me giddy, it was so lovely that he remembered how much I loved their products that he chose one to give me as a gift with no help at all. It was the perfect surprise and adds so much to the meaning of it. Inside the box was the most beautiful half moon necklace titled Altair named after the brightest star in the constellation Aquila, and the 12th brightest star in the entire universe - apparently. When I saw it I thought of a necklace that Miley Cyrus used to wear in her boho days which was similar to this although flipped the other way. You can see it hanging off of her neck in this Lilac Wine cover she did four years back. Take a peek at the necklace and the glory that is this cover!

My Lone Feather necklace was also a gift from my father which is one of three he gifted me for my 21st birthday - spoilt rotten! I love how delicate this piece is, it sits perfectly on the chest and looks beautiful layered up with other chains too.

Let's move onto fingers as my favourite type of jewellery has to be rings. I often wear four of five at a time which might seem like a lot to some people but of me it's the more the merrier. I like the look of mixed metals and textures along with different coloured stones and jewels, there's so much variety out there which is good if you're fussy when it comes to buying jewellery. Anything from BMM will do for me though! The first ring I'll mention is one I actually purchased myself and that's the classic Crossbones which I bought from The Cove Boutique, a little store from my hometown that stocks independent brands, which is always important. This may be their most popular pieces but I still love it no matter how many times I see it.

Onto one of the only glitzy pieces I own and that's the beautiful Drusy Crown ring in midnight black. Future husband if you're reading, please note I would like my wedding ring to be a black gem stone, OK? None of that white diamond nonsense I'm all about the black, slightly Gothic jewels. Have you seen Shenae Grimes wedding ring? Picture that. For now this ring will do just fine, it doesn't come with a marriage after all...

There is a theme to all of these BMM products if you haven't noticed and that's the fact they have a native theme. I love anything of that kind and all of my jewellery shows it which is the main reason why I'm so in love with the company, it's like it was made for me. It's also quite funny that they match my tattoos all too well. I have cross over arrows just like the Textures Arrow ring as well as a native American portrait which reminds me of the Kika head piece ring. Obviously that isn't intentional so like I said, it was made for me!

If you have a love for wearable metal then you need to browse their products and make a purchase. Not only are you buying a life long piece of incredible jewellery but you're also supporting a independent business, a good one at that. Next on my wish list is a personalised stack ring but I need to think of something decent to get written on it, I've seen some pretty quirky ones on their Instagram feed. We'll see but for now my own personal collection will do nicely.

A HOMAGE TO THE KINGS FOR LONDON FASHION WEEKEND | 28.9.15

On Friday I took a trip to the capital for London Fashion Weekend, the part of fashion week that's a little more toned down and tame - basically a celebration that all the not as cool people can enjoy, I'm talking about purely myself here. I'm yet to experience LFW but hey, there's always next year am I right?! Experiencing just a little part of it was great fun though, seeing designers collections and a catwalk show along with dozens of stylish people was seriously inspiring. But I'll save that for my next post, for now it's all about the OOTD I wore for such occasion.

Dress - Missguided (similar), belt - Missguided, shoes - eBay (Asos originally), denim jacket - Depop, ring - Bloody Mary Metal.

I wanted to dress true to my style with an outfit that really reflects 'me', so rocking some gear majorly inspired by the rock 'n' roll era, that Harry Styles lad and the one and only YSL is what this chicks all about, it was sort of an homage to the greats if you will. I am and forever will be obsessed with Yves Saint Laurent and the S/S collection that we saw a few months back was so inspiring for me. I always think of velvet, stars, glitter and the rock genre when YSL comes to mind so this outfit was majorly taken from that.

On the subject of Styles and YSL - two things that go marvellously in the same sentence, these boots are my version of the many pairs of boots and trainers that Saint Laurent has come out with, the metallic gold boots that Harry wears are my all time favourite shoe that I long to own, seriously just give me all the glitter and metallic boots please! My not as fancy but still pretty bad ass booties are an Asos special that I won on eBay for £3.60 including postage, yep you did read that correctly it wasn't your mind playing tricks on you because you're tired after a long day at work, honest! I feel so sorry for the lady who sold me these because they originally retail at £45 so I am very sorry lovely lady on eBay but you have made me very happy if it makes you feel any better?

I think if I was made into a cartoon character that wore the same clothes every episode (why so cartoons never change clothes by the way?), this would be my outfit. It reflects me and my style perfectly.

ROLLING WITH THE STONES

10TH AUGUST 2015
OUTFITS
LISTENING TOO: THE ROLLING STONES - SHORT AND CURLIES ♫
Top - The Cove Boutique, skirt - Forever 21, shoes - Newlook (similar), sunglasses - M&S, watch - Topshop.

It's probably common knowledge by now that The Rolling Stones are a huge love of mine, I talk about Keith and Mick so much you'd think I actually knew them in real life! So it was only normal that I purchase the coolest Stones tee I did ever see from The Cove Boutique. If you saw in last months haul video I up popped over on my YouTube then you'd of heard me blabber on about this tee as well as a Led Zeppelin one I bought - if you're wondering about an OOTD I've already got it covered here! But I love everything about this top esepcially the raglan design and fourth of July type print. It's totally unique and very American vintage which again, I adore. I'm always scrolling through independent American vintage stores lusting over their stock of one-off amazing finds so to have an item that looks the part but has been purchased from a UK based indie store is awesome, I'll always go to The Cove for my thrifted needs!

I tend to wear leopard print a lot but went the extra mile when I found this bodycon skirt from Forever 21 a while back, I just knew it would look good with any one of my band or graphic tees and it was only something measly like £4 in the sale. It does ride up far more than I would of liked though but what you gonna do?! It's 100% worth it, don't you think? My mother would probably say otherwise...

I've also found myself going back to last years ultimate 'blogger' trend, who remembers it? Every other gal seemed to be donning a pair of Newlook chunky black boots (myself included) because they were such a bargain and a complete wardrobe essential last A/W and still to this day! I wonder what this years winter boot will be? I don't know but I can wait to find out.

You can head over to the video itself to find any information you need in the description box as per usual. Hope you enjoy and make sure to subscribe if you did!

TOMBOY

7TH MAY 2015
OUTFITS
LISTENING TOO: LED ZEPPELIN - GOING TO CALIFORNIA ♫
Top - The Cove Boutique, shorts - Depop, socks - Topman, boots - Dr Martens, sunglasses - M&S., watch - Topshop, rings - Bloody Mary Metal and Topshop

Tube socks, band tees and Doc Martens, that'll do nicely for my inner tomboy.

I feel fifteen again whenever I wear my Docs as I used to wear them everyday to school, much to my teachers dismay (such a rebel I know). They've just had their 7th birthday and they're going to have many more because I want to be one of those older ladies who still rocks a heavy metal shirt and clumpy boots, maybe even by then I'll want the grey gone and go for some mad dye job like purple or jet black and be covered in tattoos that have gone all blurred and wrinkly. I'm completely cool with all of this, growing old gracefully and all that, if gracefully means being a seventy year old grunger that is!

As for tube socks, they're my new thing. They have a sense of the nineties skate scene and I will be wearing them with Vans and Converse because of that. I found these ones in Topman as they're a rarity in any form of woman's section unless you want to pay more then eight pounds - yes Urban Outfitters I'm looking at you! They sell them in a variety of colours like blue and green with the option of length also, I quite like the idea of ankle ones with trainers so I may try those ones next.

I can't not say a lovely big thank you to my buddy Kate for popping these wonderful shorts on her Depop forever ago as I still love and wear them to this day, so thanks girl! I still manage to fit my arse in them even if with a squeeze!

Time to mention the fact I'm wearing one of the best t-shirts to enter my closet, and probably my life. Cheers to The Cove Boutique for stocking such awesome stuff that I can't help but buy. You guys just wait till you see my other one (yes I bought two) it's everything and I'm sure you wont be shocked when you see what band is on that one, I'm so obvious it's stupid. You may remember a post I did a while back featuring another item from their glorious store, if not then you can have a read of that here and see what else they have to offer on their online store or Instagramas you can buy from there too, pretty good right?!

A JACKET CLOSE TO MY HEART

23RD FEBRUARY 2015
OUTFITS
LISTENING TO : KINGS OF LEON - ARIZONA ♫

T-shirt - Forever 21, jeans - Topshop, shoes - Converse, jacket - The Cove Boutique, necklace - Topman

So a lot of people won't know this but when I was younger me, my sister, mother and father lived in Canada and traveled around America. From then on it's always been a place close to my heart. Although I was only a very small child at this point and don't remember 90% of it, it somehow truly feels like somewhere I love. Weather I do instinctively remember little things about it or not I don't know. A lot of things I love and do to this day are related to The States such as my interest in Native American culture, my use of the word pants instead of trousers and my obsession with California. But then again I'm sure we all have a place in mind in which we'd rather be!

My mother often tells me stories of our trips to the South West, our visits to Phoenix to see the Cowboys in among all of the cacti and vast deserts, sights of American bisons and sounds of wolves in the night. Funny how I love anything western and my favorite animal is in fact a Bison! It clearly has stayed with me all these years.

I saw this bomber jacket hanging in a seriously cool store near me called The Cove Boutique and felt like it obviously had to be mine. The Cove sells items from the likes of this one and other vintage finds, independent brands, jewelry and unique home ware too. It's really lovely to have somewhere so different in my town as Devon isn't the most out-there of places, so having somewhere like this is just what the town needs for us young, trendy folk.

Under my jacket I've kept it simple but a little bit preppy with a white T, a pair of Topshop Jamie jeans and some hi-top chucks. A nice and plain outfit to go with a statement, satin bomber jacket that makes me feel like an extra in Saved By The Bell or like I'm wearing the hot jocks letterman jacket. I've clearly seen way too many films set in the 90's! But other than feeling like one of Zac Morris' high school pals, I completely adore this jacket. There's nothing quite like buying vintage, having an item that you'll most likely never see anyone else wearing is a pretty awesome feeling.
