STRIPPED | 13.9.16

It's incredible when something makes you feel good when you're stripped bare in front of a camera without a hint of skin smoothing Photoshop magic and no make-up artist to hand. These earrings make me feel that way, isn't that special? I feel so raw beside these intricate earrings that hang delicately next to me. It's awfully sexy when you can feel beautiful with nothing but the help of a piece of jewellery, although even more sexy with the help of nothing at all.

In the past few weeks my love of jewellery has grown. Before, I thought it was something that helped me express my identity with my everyday rings from the remarkable people in my life, but now, it means so much more. Yes, it is amazing when you get given a piece from someone you have a love for, but when you can pick a piece yourself and show the real you through it, that's something. You can choose pieces that make you feel many different ways like sexy, beautiful and edgy. These Stephanie Bates earrings are making me feel all kinds of fancy which isn't a feeling I have ever had.

I think it's easy to take jewellery for granted and not appreciate it for what it is. It's a work of wearable art and right now it's making me feel magical and lucky to be able to show off such beautiful craftsmanship with you all. Massive thanks to the wonderful people over at Jewel Street for helping me feel like a queen in all the incredible jewellery you've let me get on my mitts on!

It's another round of beautiful jewellery (aren't I lucky?!) and this time it's a focus on the wonderful Stephanie Bates and these edgy geometric kite earrings. I often forget that earlobes can look pretty with the help of an earring or two, but these ones are a great reminder. The matte finish on these beauties is subtle against my brassy hair and go great next to a leather jacket. If something goes perfect with leather, I'm all ears.

You can go the whole hog and pair them with the necklace that matches. I like to mix metals when it comes to my jewellery so I opted for the silver version, as well as this beautiful Marlin Birna pendant that compliments my black kite earrings almost perfectly.

I couldn't resist adding some gold to the mix with this Mei-Li Rose bracelet. I go all out with my metal clashing, mainly because I can't decide what colour to go for, but mostly because it's boring sticking to the rules sometimes. It's fun to clash a little and wear all the pieces you love in one go, for some it might be a serious faux pas but I'm sticking to what I love!

I'm really into the quirky shapes of all of these pieces. It's fun mixing shapes (not just for the dance floor) and finding jewellery that's a little more unique. If you're more into subtlety though, have a browse through Mei-Li Rose and her dainty pieces online, because although she uses a variety of eccentric shapes through her work, she also has some simple bars and bangles that are just lovely.
