MY JEWELLERY COLLECTION | PART THREE

My final jewellery instalment features the one thing I can never, ever go a day without - my ring collection. I am forever asked why I wear so many and have sarcy comments thrown at me all the time like, 'do you have enough rings?!' I remember leaving them at home once after getting up for work at 6am, far to tired to remember putting my jewellery on. That day was excruciating, I constantly felt naked and kept getting in a state of worry thinking I had lost them somewhere. They are the only thing I could never go a day without, so every time I leave the house I check them off my imaginary list - phone, wallet, keys, rings...

As for why I wear so many, I honestly don't know. I've never though about it before so excuse me while I try to figure it out... Maybe it's a hobby, collecting different pieces and spending money I've worked hard for on something I can treasure forever. I also think jewellery adds to personality and style. As I love rock 'n' roll, having a skull and cross bones seemed appropriate, but if I wore a huge sparkly number it wouldn't be me, so they definitely add something to personal style (future husband take notes). I think men like Johnny Depp and Keith Richards encouraged me to start wearing rings at a young age. These were the two men that got me into over sized shirts, head scarfs and wide brim hats, so they probably influenced my jewellery obsession too. There could be many reasons as to why I cover myself in jewellery, but all I know is it's a great passion of mine and makes me truly feel myself.

On to the rings themselves, I'm going to rave about Bloody Mary Metal just one  more time. BMM haven't only been the source of my necklace, but they've also made a mark on my rings. I'm wearing the classic Crossbones ring which has become stupidly popular within the past two years. Every blogger keen on filling their fingers is probably wearing one of these, and if not this one then another from their beautiful website. Since shooting these photos I got gifted the Ziggy ring as a leaving gift from my friends back in Bristol. It matches my necklace and I'm so smitten with it.

My skull was bought in Barcelona as a joint purchase with my boyfriend. We wanted something we could have as a memory from our trip, luckily we both had wanted a skull for a while so it seemed like the perfect choice, and suited us both down to the ground. Having this skull has made me lust over The Great Frog and their incredible handmade pieces even more though. I'm so eager to save and buy one from their collection, but it'll take a lot of saving for one of those.

The ring that graces my wedding finger - I know, I've cursed myself; belonged to my grandma. I had it passed down to me and it's quite honestly an item I treasure most. Everyone should be blessed enough to have a piece of jewellery that has been handed down in their family for years, it's a special feeling and I'm so fortunate to be trusted with it. This is the only gold piece I have in my collection but I love that, it makes a statement and stands out from the rest. It's also quite strange that the diamond is black, which happens to be something I'd like my wedding ring to have, still taking notes future husband?...

My other rings aren't as special, but I still love them. If you're looking to start up your own collection then these ones are far more affordable, but still super cool. Head to various high street stores like Brandy Melville and Topman for stainless steal and plated rings. Stay away from trendy, costume pieces and spend extra money on silver that wont turn your finger green or rust within a few weeks. You may think of pound signs when someone says silver or gold, but they aren't always on the pricey side. My turquoise stone ring from Brandy Melville was only £6, I've had it for two years and it's not shown any signs of wear or rusting, that's because it's aluminium free! My thumb ring is ancient and from Topman, known for it's cheap and cheerful jewellery. Again, it's still in perfect condition. I suggest hitting up the sales and finding some cheap bits to try out before investing, Topman being one I really recommend. The high street can honestly be an absolute savour at times!

MY JEWELLERY COLLECTION | PART ONE

I for one, cannot live without my jewellery. If I go a day without it, I feel completely naked. I worry endlessly throughout the day about where I left my rings, or how bare my neck looks without my necklace. It's something that makes me feel whole and comfortable, also something I get asked frequently on. Having my chest exposed, thanks to low buttoned shirts, helps show off my silver I suppose.

I thought I'd update you on the latest pieces in my collection, as the last time I posted about it was years ago and I've mixed things up since then. I'll be posting in three parts, starting with my most loved piece - the Ziggy Stardust necklace. This was a gift from my Father who has spoilt me with many beautiful jewels in the recent years for Chrismas and birthdays. Having spent years helping fund my shopping habit with gift cards and a few notes, he decided to buy me sentimental items I could keep forever, now that I'm an adult it only seems right. With the help of my obvious hinting, he picked out this Ziggy Stardust silver from my favourite brand, Bloody Mary Metal - which is now his go-to for gifts. With Bowie being a huge part of my teenage years, it only seemed fitting to have a constant reminder hanging around my neck, as if my crap tattoo wasn't enough!

SHIRT - MARC JACOBS
NECKLACE - BLOODY MARY METAL

I own a few necklaces from Bloody Mary Metal, but the love I have for this one makes me not want to switch it up as often as I should. If I can face taking this one off, I'll be sure to show you the rest of charms...

FLYING KITES | 6.9.16

It's another round of beautiful jewellery (aren't I lucky?!) and this time it's a focus on the wonderful Stephanie Bates and these edgy geometric kite earrings. I often forget that earlobes can look pretty with the help of an earring or two, but these ones are a great reminder. The matte finish on these beauties is subtle against my brassy hair and go great next to a leather jacket. If something goes perfect with leather, I'm all ears.

You can go the whole hog and pair them with the necklace that matches. I like to mix metals when it comes to my jewellery so I opted for the silver version, as well as this beautiful Marlin Birna pendant that compliments my black kite earrings almost perfectly.

I couldn't resist adding some gold to the mix with this Mei-Li Rose bracelet. I go all out with my metal clashing, mainly because I can't decide what colour to go for, but mostly because it's boring sticking to the rules sometimes. It's fun to clash a little and wear all the pieces you love in one go, for some it might be a serious faux pas but I'm sticking to what I love!

I'm really into the quirky shapes of all of these pieces. It's fun mixing shapes (not just for the dance floor) and finding jewellery that's a little more unique. If you're more into subtlety though, have a browse through Mei-Li Rose and her dainty pieces online, because although she uses a variety of eccentric shapes through her work, she also has some simple bars and bangles that are just lovely.

MY BLOODY MARY METAL COLLECTION | 07.01.16

I'm jewellery obsessed, if you didn't know. If I leave my home forgetting to put my rings on I will feel completely naked, my fingers will feel bare and uncomfortable which sets me up for a pretty bad day. It's like a comfort blanket considering most of the ones I wear were bought for me and mean a little something. They all have a place in my heart and leaving my fingers or neck bare feels like I'm missing something. There's a company that's been high on my list of desirable jewels for a long time now and that's Bloody Mary Metal. I bet most of you know of the company by now considering a lot of well known bloggers don a part of their collection on the daily. But my love goes way back, way back when they had minimal Instagram followers and they hadn't had an article written about the in the paper, nicely done by the way guys! It might be that I adore the fact their situated in Cornwall, close (sort of) to were I used to live and where my mother still does live. Seeing something come from a little town I have distant but fond memories of feels strangely homely.

I'm so happy my collection is coming on strong with the help of my loved ones. For Christmas my father surprised me with one of their beautiful trademark black and gold box which made me giddy, it was so lovely that he remembered how much I loved their products that he chose one to give me as a gift with no help at all. It was the perfect surprise and adds so much to the meaning of it. Inside the box was the most beautiful half moon necklace titled Altair named after the brightest star in the constellation Aquila, and the 12th brightest star in the entire universe - apparently. When I saw it I thought of a necklace that Miley Cyrus used to wear in her boho days which was similar to this although flipped the other way. You can see it hanging off of her neck in this Lilac Wine cover she did four years back. Take a peek at the necklace and the glory that is this cover!

My Lone Feather necklace was also a gift from my father which is one of three he gifted me for my 21st birthday - spoilt rotten! I love how delicate this piece is, it sits perfectly on the chest and looks beautiful layered up with other chains too.

Let's move onto fingers as my favourite type of jewellery has to be rings. I often wear four of five at a time which might seem like a lot to some people but of me it's the more the merrier. I like the look of mixed metals and textures along with different coloured stones and jewels, there's so much variety out there which is good if you're fussy when it comes to buying jewellery. Anything from BMM will do for me though! The first ring I'll mention is one I actually purchased myself and that's the classic Crossbones which I bought from The Cove Boutique, a little store from my hometown that stocks independent brands, which is always important. This may be their most popular pieces but I still love it no matter how many times I see it.

Onto one of the only glitzy pieces I own and that's the beautiful Drusy Crown ring in midnight black. Future husband if you're reading, please note I would like my wedding ring to be a black gem stone, OK? None of that white diamond nonsense I'm all about the black, slightly Gothic jewels. Have you seen Shenae Grimes wedding ring? Picture that. For now this ring will do just fine, it doesn't come with a marriage after all...

There is a theme to all of these BMM products if you haven't noticed and that's the fact they have a native theme. I love anything of that kind and all of my jewellery shows it which is the main reason why I'm so in love with the company, it's like it was made for me. It's also quite funny that they match my tattoos all too well. I have cross over arrows just like the Textures Arrow ring as well as a native American portrait which reminds me of the Kika head piece ring. Obviously that isn't intentional so like I said, it was made for me!

If you have a love for wearable metal then you need to browse their products and make a purchase. Not only are you buying a life long piece of incredible jewellery but you're also supporting a independent business, a good one at that. Next on my wish list is a personalised stack ring but I need to think of something decent to get written on it, I've seen some pretty quirky ones on their Instagram feed. We'll see but for now my own personal collection will do nicely.
