THE TROPICS | 10.7.16

Meet Kieran, my stupidly stylish better half. It's going to be hard not to spew out a shitload of compliments during this post (which will go straight to his head) but this guy really does ooze effortless rock 'n' roll style. He could give Miles Kane a run for his money, and as you can imagine, I love it. Dating someone who always looks good is annoying because he looks better than me a lot of the time but it could be worse, he could have no fashion sense whatsoever.

I struggle to believe that I've met a man who can give my shirt collection a run for its money. Granted, he's bought a lot more since knowing me, but it's still rather impressive. This one is a particular favourite of mine as I love a tacky Miami Vice-style tropical print. It's more subtle than one I'd go for but I've got to hand it to H&M! They've done well with their summer prints this season.

Kieran has toned down the wild print of his shirt with an all black ensemble of ultra skinny jeans and a blazer, which makes a great day-to-night look. You'll either see him wearing a blazer or a leather jacket, he's a creature of habit just like yours truly. To add a little more colour he's added a brown leather belt that looks beautifully vintage next to his what could be retro shirt.

I know what you're all thinking, 'this is an outfit that you would wear', and it really is. We are two peas in a pod who are probably going to be sharing wardrobes before much longer! I've managed to persuade him to team up and do some outfit shoots together as well as taking photos of him on his own, so expect to see this handsome face here on the regular. I'm most inspired by men and how they style themselves so featuring more of that on my blog only seemed fitting, don't you think?

PLAYING WITH ACCESSORIES | 7.7.16

Wearing a mundane outfit and adding ridiculous accessories makes getting dressed in the morning easy, but also a lot of fun. You don't have to think hard about if something matches, you can just stick to a plain pair of jeans and a basic t-shirt and let the accessories do the talking. For me, it's all about the sunglasses, which easily make summer one of my favourite seasons. Who doesn't like wearing a pair of shades to cover the lack of sleep from the night before? Not only do they hide a multitude of sins but they also look cool as heck. I have an impressive collection which grows every summer. It ranges from the classic perfectly-round John Lennon specs to a simple RayBan Wayfarer knock-off, but these ones are quite possibly my most outrageous pair yet...

I think, talk and embrace 70's styling on the regular, which is why these sunglasses are ruling my life at the moment. They can make some people look like a sleazy director of a dirty movie, but they're also a pair that would make Hunter S. Thompson proud.

As my outfit is a boring pair of jeans three sizes too big and a plain white t-shirt, I thought it was about time I re-worked one of my many leather jackets to make my lazy outfits cooler. I've been searching for pins online for some time, but found that the best ones ship from America - just like everything else I want in life. I did manage to find some quirky ones from Topshop which fill my badge shaped hole rather nicely though. I mean come on, how cute is the little tooth smiling away on my lapel? I couldn't say no to that! I have, of course, added the pin I bought from The Rolling Stones exhibition we went to in London a few weeks ago, which I've been meaning to find a place for ever since. Along with another one I found at a local vintage stall in St Nicholas' Market here in Bristol.

I don't think you can ever go wrong with a basic outfit, but making it a little more exciting with the help of a few daring accessories makes you feel like you made more of an effort, and like the 'three sizes too big' jeans were part of the eccentric look, in my case anyway.

EAGLE BOMBER | 17.8.15

My mind is blown at the fact it's taken me this long to wear this bomber, this totally amazing bomber. I bought it more than a month ago and kind of forgot about it until now, I am aware of how bad that is and I have given myself a well deserved slap on the wrist for it. You may have seen it in a haul video I did two months ago but since then it hasn't been worn despite how awesome I think it is. But having said that, today was in fact the day this beauty came out to play!
Top - Forever 21, jacket - H&M, shorts - Forever 21, boots - River Island, sunglasses - Matalan.

I thought it would look cool with some boho pieces like these tapestry shorts from Forever 21 as the jacket itself is quite native. I wanted to take that further and add some pattern and these shorts were a match made in heaven, the colours go perfect together and make a change from a pair of denim cut-offs. I'm so obsessed with Forever 21 and their selection of shorts that I've worked up quite the collection, these being my favorite so far so I just had to get some more wear out of them before the sun went down for another year!

I feel I haven't worn much pattern in a while so I went all out with a clash of leopard print for my booties, booties that I can't actually walk in without highly embarrassing myself and towering over any person that walks past... They do make my pins looks extra elongated and thin for once though which I am happy about. As much as I think these boots are killer (in more sense than one) I've got to be honest as I have only worn these once to a club and hated every moment of it - not just because I was in a club but because they made me stick out like a sore thumb in a small room full of drunken teenagers half my height. With that being said I am thinking of passing these on to someone with more heel experience so you may just see them pop up over on my eBay along with lot's of other bits and bobs so make sure you head there for some of my pre-loved goods!

DIY (AND DOUBLE, OBVIOUSLY) DENIM

27TH JULY 2015
OUTFITS
LISTENING TOO: PINK FLOYD - WAITING FOR THE WORMS ♫
Top - Forever 21, jeans - Primark, jacket - Depop, shoes - Duo, hat - Primark, socks - Primark, watch - Topshop, ring - Topman.

Remember last week when I talked all about my new obsession with DIY denim? Well here's the first installment of that phase, and boy is it a good phase indeed because this jacket is pretty rad, is it not? Pink Floyd? Obviously! I also mentioned in that post about a few finds I found on Depop, this being one of them. I scroll through on a daily basis on the attempt to find some one-off pieces, especially in the music area as my top key words on Depop seem to be 'band tees' and 'ZZ Top' - I'm trying to find a tee similar to Kate's ZZ Top shirt which she found through Depop, it needs to join my collection pronto! I'm so damn jealous.

Nevertheless I've still found a couple of gems myself including this rad denim jacket with the coolest Pink Floyd patch sewn on the back, it was all of £9 too so double win on this one! Denim is very 90's and as it's me I had to throw on a pair of the same toned denim pants, so predictable Chloe, so damn predictable. I'm such a 90's cliche but I'm head over heels for anything of that era at the moment that anything else is just going straight past me. Don't get me wrong though I still love the 60's and 70's thing but right now my true 90's kid is coming out, it's also kind of the way my dad dressed back then too but let's skip right past that...

If you're on the hunt for some customized denim then you should take to Depop, I know a lot of people have issues with it but I'm yet to find one. I've found some great stuff in among some of the not so great over priced bits and I've been happy with all of it - so far. I'm currently selling some of my old clothes over on eBay but may convert to Depop myself so if you give my page a follow then you may see some old and loved items of my own floating around on there soon!

PITTSBURGH

23RD APRIL 2015
OUTFITS
LISTENING TOO: LYNYRD SKYNYRD - FREE BIRD ♫ Tee - thifted, jacket - thirfted, jeans - Primark, hat - H&M (similar), bandana - Claire's Accessories, watch - Next.

I have never been to Pittsburgh, but I'm such a sucker for a cheesy Hard Rock Cafe tee! My dad used to wear a variety of them when I was younger, I remember him lending me one to use as a Pajama top when I went to stay with him for a weekend a few years back and loved it. Since then they've had an important place in my heart, which is supprising as I normally say a big 'HELL NO!' to tourist crap like I HEART LONDON postcards or European fridge magnets, but I can't help but love these.

When me and Dan went to Rome we had to make a venture to the one there, we vlogged about it - which feels like forever ago now, Dan had no facial hair and I had braces, yikes. As cheesy as it is, it's so much fun. The menus are epic and the atmosphere does indeed rock.

I actually found this shirt in a local charity store and the old school muscle tee shape made me need it. We did fight over it as we both have a guilty pleasure for Hard Rock Cafes now, so we've decided to share it, after all it is a man's top so I did feel bad for taking it from him. I just love the 90's cut off sleeves and the fact its super rare, maybe one day I will actually go to one in Pittsburgh and get an updated shirt.

Although I didn't need it for once I popped on my cropped denim jacket, which I also bought from the same charity store a while back. Another super 90's piece (can you tell I'm loving this era lately?) which probably was in fact from the 90's itself. A black denim jacket is an essential for me as it helps me to stray away from my leather jackets for a change.

I'm all about accessories at the moment, I seem to always have a bandana or a thin scarf tied around my neck. I love the way it looks especially with plain tees or band shirts which are my most worn pieces, it just adds a little extra to a plain outfit. I've also opted for a hat too, I'm definitely stuck in a rut with my clothing choices at the moment. Someone take my hat collection away from me before I get some serious hat hair permanently!

A JACKET CLOSE TO MY HEART

23RD FEBRUARY 2015
OUTFITS
LISTENING TO : KINGS OF LEON - ARIZONA ♫

T-shirt - Forever 21, jeans - Topshop, shoes - Converse, jacket - The Cove Boutique, necklace - Topman

So a lot of people won't know this but when I was younger me, my sister, mother and father lived in Canada and traveled around America. From then on it's always been a place close to my heart. Although I was only a very small child at this point and don't remember 90% of it, it somehow truly feels like somewhere I love. Weather I do instinctively remember little things about it or not I don't know. A lot of things I love and do to this day are related to The States such as my interest in Native American culture, my use of the word pants instead of trousers and my obsession with California. But then again I'm sure we all have a place in mind in which we'd rather be!

My mother often tells me stories of our trips to the South West, our visits to Phoenix to see the Cowboys in among all of the cacti and vast deserts, sights of American bisons and sounds of wolves in the night. Funny how I love anything western and my favorite animal is in fact a Bison! It clearly has stayed with me all these years.

I saw this bomber jacket hanging in a seriously cool store near me called The Cove Boutique and felt like it obviously had to be mine. The Cove sells items from the likes of this one and other vintage finds, independent brands, jewelry and unique home ware too. It's really lovely to have somewhere so different in my town as Devon isn't the most out-there of places, so having somewhere like this is just what the town needs for us young, trendy folk.

Under my jacket I've kept it simple but a little bit preppy with a white T, a pair of Topshop Jamie jeans and some hi-top chucks. A nice and plain outfit to go with a statement, satin bomber jacket that makes me feel like an extra in Saved By The Bell or like I'm wearing the hot jocks letterman jacket. I've clearly seen way too many films set in the 90's! But other than feeling like one of Zac Morris' high school pals, I completely adore this jacket. There's nothing quite like buying vintage, having an item that you'll most likely never see anyone else wearing is a pretty awesome feeling.

ROCK TEES AND ANIMAL PRINT

29TH JANUARY 2015
OUTFITS
LISTENING TO: PINK FLOYD - US AND THEM ♫
Tee - thrifted, jacket - Primark, jeans - Primark, boots - New Look, rings - Bloody Mary Metal.

I'm actually stunned that this is the first time this season I've worn one of my (faux) fur jackets, what?! This must be a record or something, last year, hell every year I've worn them to absolute death! Maybe that's the reason I haven't gone for them this season but hey ho, at least this one has gotten some use!

I think band tees almost have to be worn with some form or animal print, leather or just plain black, especially those of a 'rock' genre. So I opted to ditch the leather jacket and smother my tee in all the faux fur goodness that is this mad jacket. Y'all probably know by now that I'm a sucker for animal print, I recently bought some cow print slip ons which have proudly made top ranking of 'Ugliest Shoe', but I sometimes think the tackier the better and I personally love them. Animal print be it leopard, zebra, snake or croc can either be done really, really well or totally awful and it certainly requires a specific taste. But in my personal opinion, this jacket is really quite cool. Not only that but it's the warmest item of clothing that has even been placed onto my upper body, it's so warm and cosy with it's big collar and over-sized charm.

I've opted for my trusty and very skinny, skinny jeans and my also very trusty chelsea boots. This is the kind of outfit I wear more than I should but mixing it up with a different coat such as a vintage denim jacket, or swapping my boots for a pair of brogues changes it up and makes me feel better about wearing this combo for 3 days straight. TMI? Probably.
