ALMOST FAMOUS

Wearing rainbow stripes is a serious trend right now, and while I've always been into striped clothing, only in the recent years have I expressed my brighter side in the way that I dress. I always say that I only ever wore black, light black and sometimes grey (a very dark shade of grey might I add) and it's true, you'd never of seen me wearing an outfit this bright six years ago -

although

you'd definitely of seen me in these Dr Martens

. But, six years ago I was a different person who only ever cared about the grunge phase I was in, now I'm older and into the idea of actually wearing these colours. I've got to say that wearing an entire look made up of only the deepest shade of black doesn't quite thrill me the way it used to.

I've seen numerous versions of rainbow tops, but this one stood out for me the most. Maybe it's the '

Almost Famous

' text on the front that swung me? Is it a reference to iconic 00's film of that name, or is it a dig at the people who think they are something they're not? It's an up-in-the-air debate right now and either way I love it.

The Ragged Priest

always pull through on unique pieces like this, pieces that no other brand is making, by creating items that are original and totally un-seen before. It's a brand I always look out for and have enjoyed for years. They really fit in to the '

cool, edgy girl on instagram

' vibe that is everywhere at the moment, and not a look I turn my nose up at (

because I wish I was that cool girl on Instagram

). Pairing it with my knee length

Dr Martens

was a good choice, wearing it with no tights in January was not. The sun setting just in time for taking these photographs makes it look far warmer than it was, and wearing these sunglasses helped a lot too. The trick is to think you're somewhere sunny and the goosebumps will eventually disappear, and it's totally worth the freezing cold temperature when you've got some killer garms to shoot in!

THE PARISIAN CLASSIC

If you're a really hip blogger, then you would of read How To Be Parisian: Wherever You Are  many moons ago. Literally, everyone who is anyone was Instagraming this book (it is very beautiful and certainly worthy of a pic on the grid - guilty!). This book has a big place in my heart, although being a lover of Caroline De Maigret makes that easy. Since purchasing over three years ago, I still go to this hardback for constant inspiration. It's obvious Parisian style is one of the most influential, what with IT girls taking bits from their everyday, easy to wear outfits on the daily. We see everyone wearing a stripe, rocking a blazer and these hats, well they're everywhere! You might not realise it, but you take more from the incredible French girls and their laid-back, edgy style than you think! I know I do...

I've gone for the absolute classic that is a stripe, also known as a Breton stripe. Did you know that traditionally this came from the French navy? Clearly a nautical pattern, but can be worn in so many different ways. I myself DO  NOT opt for a sea-like attire, you'll wont see an anchor in sight here! If you're looking for ways to dress at the beach, you've come to the wrong place. I've styled it to fit my usual, 90's grunge style instead.

I've donned the laid-back vibe keeping thoughts of the French in mind. I recently purchased these skater jeans from Asos, expecting them to be hideous on. Baggy jeans rarely fit my shape, but these are THE perfect style for me. They are the a mix between baggy but still feminine, being tighter on my (flat) bum than my legs. I've certainly become obsessed with these jeans, so much so that I've ordered more pairs... Skater jeans, you are my new love!

My usual accessories have come out to play. I wear my Raybans and baker boy hat nearly everyday, knowing I will never be as cool as Clémence Poésy, but a girl can try...

EXTRA

It's hard not look like a 'basic bitch' what with all of the nineties trends hitting the high street at the moment. We've got fishnets coming out of our ears and sliders for days. This choice of outfit makes me look like I've just walked out of my studio flat in Hackney, on my way to drink Starbucks out of their Cold Brew. How extra of me - right? Who cares! I can think of worse things than looking part of London's trendy eastern borough. Can't a girl wear her vintage Harley Davidson tee in peace without someone calling me out for being 'totally extra'?! OK, that was a rather hip statement but it's true, give me a break!

As a trend I'm personally a fan, so call me names all you want. Being a huge lover of nineties fashion makes it difficult not to love those OTT accessories like huge sunglasses and platform shoes. Speaking of, can we bring back Buffalo trainers already?! We loved the Spice Girls style for that reason and I can think of many babes who could rock them in the modern day. I've gone for a more low-key look in terms of 'extraness' for this outfit though (I'm not quite confident enough for bulky platform trainers just yet) donning my new Pull & Bear zebra print skirt and vintage tops such as my Harley Davidson tee and my boyfriends old biker jacket.

Being a huge lover of vintage made all my dreams come true when I found a vintage kilo store on a recent vacation to Barcelona, where I happened to find this t-shirt. Barcelona has an array of cool stores that you just have to check out if you're in the city. I recommend Google mapping Flamingo Vintage and Holala to cure all of your second-hand needs. I conquered with this top and another being a Pink Floyd tour shirt from the 70's. If you're heading to Barcelona this summer then save up some pennies and hunt for the gold!

Another newbie are these Ray-Ban Octagonal Flat Lenses in gold, that were gifted to me for my birthday. I need serious help when it comes to sunglasses, I'm obsessed! I have one face and wear the same four in rotation even though I own at least thirty pairs. These Ray-Bans have cured my need for more right now though, being the ultimate retro accessory that help finish that 1990's look perfectly.

So, I might look kind of extra but who says that's even a bad thing? Putting a stupid label on the way others choose to dress is beyond me. Whack out your old playboy crop tops and fake burberry bags while the trend is in full force - don't hide because of others judging your individuality. Be that extra bitch you want to be and wear your vintage with pride!
