I wanted to bring a bit of New York into today's blog post as I’ve been seriously inspired by the city recently. Although I may have never been, there is so much going on there I feel like it is a place I know so much about. The majority of creatives I follow on social media are living their best lives in NYC, which makes it the backdrop for a lot of the street-style shots on my feed. My saved images are looking more and more like a dedicated mood-board every passing day, I just can’t stop pining over the city I have yet to discover for myself.
I thought I’d release some of my overflowing inspiration and put it into today's gritty, down-town inspired look. I have a handful of creatives that keep Instagram alive for me because of their street-style imagery, those including Dustin Hanke, Marie Von Behrens, Courtney Trop and the Suarez sisters. All of which are often swanning around the streets of New York in their iconic looks. These are the Instagram feeds that keep my creative juices flowing and give me an incentive to explore different places and meet new people. So much of my inspiration comes from these pages, each are creative geniuses that all have their own unique take on the city and its ever-inspiring individual style.
I live in Manchester, which often has a ‘Big Apple’ feel with its huge array of old-school apartment blocks with fire-escapes hanging off each floor and sky-scrapers as far as the eye can see. Not to mention it’s edgy downtown areas and a few parks dotted here and there. Sadly, it’s not quite the East Coast, but that doesn’t mean I can’t make it my own little New York. I took notes from my big city babes and shot in the backstreets of MCR in my best Dustin Hanke inspired look of a niche wannabe Sex Pistols tee, faux leather jacket, distressed denim and of course a pair of chunky platform boots - the perfect look for taking on the city in style…
