This week we see a totally different blog from me. I’ve teamed up with my YouTube channel and formed a brand new joint series where I’ll be showing you how to style vintage. I’ve been sharing my new-in pieces by doing hauls over on my channel, so I thought adding a styling element would work perfectly next to my other videos. Once I’ve spoken about my charity shop finds, I’ll then take to the streets and style them up!
I for one love a classic styling video, rather than the new way of shooting where it’s in your bedroom next to a plain white wall… For me, that’s not what I’m about. I have so much fun going out and shooting, and I personally don’t get a thrill when I watch videos like the ones currently taking over IGTV. I’m going back to my old YouTube roots and creating more lookbooks and bringing my personal style to my channel. I’m loving experimenting and giving my channel some love again. It might be the smallest channel out there, but it’s no longer about figures and stats for me, it’s about getting my creative juices flowing and keeping my soul happy with this fun little hobby of mine.
So, let’s talk about the video! The first piece I’m styling is this dreamy leather jacket which I scored for a single pound a while back. I featured it in my recent haul, so I won’t chat about it in too much length, all you really need to know it how great it is. But, the images below are there to show it off in all of it’s glory. It’s eighties shape, chunky lapel and zebra panelling give it so much personality, it really just speaks for itself. It’s one bold jacket and doesn’t need too much OTT styling, so I’ve kept it (kind of) minimal in my first look. We’ve gone completely eighties with a pair of bleached Levis, neon roll neck and of course some classic sneakers - Total Kelly Kapowski vibes. For my second look I’ve gone more rock and roll by pairing it with another leather item and injecting some colour into the look with even more vintage pieces. What I love about styling is that you can create so many different looks with just one main item, by using this jacket as my focus I’ve created two completely different outfits!
I had so much fun shooting this mini lookbook, so I really hope you enjoy watching it. It’s my first attempt and I hope I’ll get better at creating content like this, as it might be a tad rusty here and there. It’s all a learning process and being able to acquire new skills while doing what I love is amazing. As time goes on my editing skills will get better and I’ll be bringing more new things to my blog and YouTube channel.
