I had so much fun with my last post - dressing up, wearing something a little different and embracing the more flamboyant side of my wardrobe. I thought I would keep this up and share another outfit which again is inspired by the rock and roll world, where flamboyancy comes naturally. It’s a little Elton again, but I’m also feeling very Ziggy Stardust in this two-piece. Maybe it’s the star print or even the flares, it could even be the entire look (I did go slightly mad with the retro styling).
I got inspired after watching Almost Famous for the hundredth time, seeing Penny Lane in that afghan coat and earth tones make my heart sing. As soon as the credits ended, I’m there planning my clothes around looks I’ve seen in the film. So, as you can imagine my coat came straight out the next day! I’ve mentioned this gem of a jacket before, but it does deserve all of the attention. It’s an iconic style and design, a definite must-have for anyone who loves seventies fashion.
Underneath the faux fur lies one heck of a two-piece from One Above Another, a brand that’s completely new to me. I found them when having a classic ASOS scrolling session (which FYI is a great way of discovering new brands) and went in deep. I came away with this combo and another denim number which I’ll be sharing next week. The brand itself isn’t my usual cup of tea, their Instagram features more noughties looks of neon, streetwear, and camouflage - we all know my feelings towards that! I took it a completely different direction, just to show that you can change the look of a piece purely by styling. If I’d of paired it with chunky trainers, a mini bag and oval shades then it would have looked nineties, but instead, I went even earlier with my look. I always think star print is more retro, so this co-ord deserves to be dressed up in seventies looking clobber.
