I’m currently obsessing over the 80’s, It’s always been my favourite time for music what with Queen, Duran Duran, Aerosmith and AC/DC (to name a few) all producing solid music during the time, and obviously donning some serious looks while doing so. It was a strong time for music and fashion, and my current style choices are becoming more and more inspired by it as the days go on. I usually flicker between all eras, but recently I’ve stuck with it and only been leaning towards pieces with retro prints, bold colours and fun shapes - Madonna eat your heart out!
I came across this dress on ASOS and it was everything I’ve been looking for, it has the ultimate 80’s shape and the cutest all over cherry print, it basically sums up the era and looks like something Cyndi Lauper would wear. I paired it with my super cropped leather and glitter boots which took this look to the max, as well as wearing my tiny oval sunglasses for added flare. All I want to wear right now is mini dresses and boots, so roll on summer where I can wear them everyday without fail. I’m so excited to get more dresses in my wardrobe and I’ll definitely be swaying towards those with outrageous patterns and unique silhouettes, I’m certainly going to embrace shoulder pads this season!
Although I’m mostly influenced by male icons such as Elton John of Mick Jagger, I am getting more and more feminine by embracing looks female legends would of worn. It’s taken me a while to get into dresses and ditch my go-to jeans, but I’m getting there. My love for the 80’s is only getting stronger and stronger, and it’s going to go into over drive once Rocketman comes out next month. My favourite era is becoming more modern, with biopics and new-season trends revolving around it. I can’t wait to see what outfits will be shown in the film, and no doubt I’ll be inspired by so many of the looks they’ve re-created in the film. Bohemian Rhapsody sent me crazy, mostly making my heart melt with the 70’s looks, but this year we’ve got the king of the 80’s serving us looks and I can’t wait to see it in all of it’s glory. So, this isn’t the last you’ll see of me wearing an outfit like this, expect more of these fun looks from me in the near future!
