A few weeks ago at the start of my collaboration with Fan Club I mentioned that they've started branching out into accessories (If you don't remember, here's where you can read it). Well, here I am bringing you one of their perfectly me accessories. I would like to say that since shooting these photos, I've lost this beret. I was dancing so frantically at an Anteros gig that it suddenly just wasn't on my head any more. So, this is in loving memory of my dream hat...
It took me a while to fully embrace the beret trend, because (without sounding like a total pretentious idiot) I was wearing berets months back, years even. I'd say around three winters ago they started dribbling into fashion retailers and I was here for it. I'd been a fan since I was younger, having seen Keith Richards and Julia Roberts sporting one back in the nineties I'll never forget the first time I wore mine though, it's safe to say I got laughed at - a lot. Now here we are, everyone and their mothers wearing one. It's not that I'm bitter about it, but it is humorous how you can wear something people hate one year and the next it's actually a full blown trend.
Fan Club have made me fall even deeper in love by creating a beret with a (sort of but not really) similar lightning bolt to the Aladdin Sane logo. Isn't it heavenly? I hadn't thought about wearing a hat with embroidery on before, I've certainly never seen one this cool. That's one thing I love about Fan Club, their completely different and fitting the bill in a lot of ways. I wear band merch every other day, I mean, when you have a retro t-shirt collection of about 50 it's hard not to, but finding pieces that aren't apparel is totally refreshing and something I'd love to see more of.
I'm hoping we'll see more accessories coming from Fan Club, with them nailing the t-shirt game they can only do amazing things with a bag or even more hats if they wanted. If you're yet to check out their product, you can see the full range here!
