Last week I featured a huge denim look over here on my blog, and tonight the same goes. Both posts featuring the same brand, One Above Another, who are serving some serious pieces that are perfect for the current festival season. In my last blog, I turned a two-piece that was meant to be more nineties, into my dream seventies look. This week, I’m doing the same…
Denim waistcoats were a thing of the late nineties/early noughties, those of you who are children of that era will remember some truly iconic red carpet looks by the likes of Hannah Montana and Paris Hilton, who usually paired their denim with ugg boots, an oversized belt and far too many hair clips. But, we’re not about that over here, so just like my last post, I chose to take it away from its later days and take it back a few more years to a time far cooler. Hooray for the seventies!
I went for a festival appropriate outfit, which would be an environment perfect for this waistcoat. It deserves a field to roll around in while Neil Young plays in the background (can you tell I’m jealous of those who went to British Summer Time?) Think of Woodstock days, where I picture babes in double denim and insane fringing, that’s where this piece needs to be. I took it to my local park and did not have a rock legend sing to me while I rolled around shooting this - a girl can dream.
If you’ve still got a festival to come, maybe a summer party or just love denim as I do, then you’ve got to invest in a piece like this. It looks vintage (and it should be, I know), works with whatever era you want to embrace and is it just one cool, unique piece. Most brands fail to produce throw-back items like this, mostly sticking to more modern designs and patterns that won't fail on the high-street. I prefer more niche pieces, those that are different and could be mistaken as hand-me-downs, something that could have been worn in 1972.
